The case against a police officer who is accused of killing his ex-wife at Brits hospital has been postponed to 21 April for bail application.
The accused, 39-year-old Tebogo Mpete, appeared in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The sergeant, who was stationed in Silverton, allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife who was on duty at the hospital last week.
The 35-year-old woman Ntombizodwa Khumalo was also pregnant at the time.
"Through his attorney, the accused told the court that he has a previous conviction of corruption and is awaiting a sentence at Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on 19 April," said NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana
"It was also brought to the attention of the court that the ex-wife obtained a protection order against the accused in 2021."
