Cope blames load shedding on ANC factions
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The Congress of the People (Cope) says the latest bout of load shedding is due to factionalism within the African National Congress (ANC).
On Wednesday the embattled power company announced rolling blackouts and warned that it could last for a week.
Cope spokesperson Dennis Bloem believes the load shedding is as a result of “sabotage” by the so-called pro-Jacob Zuma camp within the ANC.
"Cope rejects whatever excuse that Eskom is giving as what is resulting in this chaotic and dramatic situation. Cope still suspects this is sabotage from the faction that is fighting President Cyril Ramaphosa.

"If the Nkosazana-Dlamini-Zuma faction in the ANC and the Guptas were able to be involved in this massive corruption what can stop them from sabotage that is plunging our country into a huge crisis?
"This faction wants to prove a point that Brian Molefe, a close ally of Zuma and his gang, are the only people that are capable of running Eskom."
Bloem believes that having load shedding during the festive season will cripple the already struggling economy.
"South African companies and firms are expected to make bulk production as we are heading towards the festive season to boost the already crippled economy but that has been reduced into just a mere dream.”
The ANC has not been available for comment.
