The couple appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, alongside their co-accused Landiwe Ntlokwana, who was granted bail of R100 000.

Another co-accused Zethu Mudolo also appeared in court and was granted R20 000 bail.

Explaining his ruling, Magistrate Thandi Thelede said the Bushiris still hold permanent residence status in South Africa, despite the fact that the matter is under investigation.

She warned that the court could decide to reconsider the granting of bail should the state revoke the couple’s residential status.

They all have to report to their nearest police station twice a week.

"The travel documents of all accused are to remain with the investigating officer until the case is finalised, they are also not allowed to apply for any travel documents, accused 4 and 5 are to handover the original title deed of their property at Midstream Estate in Centurion," said Thelede.

Their house, which is valued at R5.5 million, will be forfeited to the state should they abscond.

She warned the Bushiris not to make any threats to state witnesses or anyone investigating the case during their sermons.

The matter has been postponed to Friday.

Accused number 1, Willah Mudolo is expected to apply for bail.
