Covid-19 delays firearm license applications
The South African Police Service on Monday confirmed a delay in firearm license applications.
National police spokesperson Vish Naidoo says due to Covid-19 regulations, they are working at a reduced capacity.
The has led to applications taking longer than expected.
Applications for amnesty have also increased.

"Applications for licenses in respect of surrendered firearms during the amnesty period compounded the situation after the total number of firearm license applications increased by more than 80% for the duration of amnesty,’ Naidoo says.
"After considering all factors as well as allowing for the proper administration of firearm license applications, the period for the finalization of these applications has been extended from 90 working days to 120 working days.”
