Covid-19 vaccination may start two days earlier, says Mkhize
National Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says South Africa’s mass Covid-19 vaccination programme could possibly start two days earlier than anticipated.
The country is gearing up for its biggest vaccination drive in history, that was originally planned to kick off on 17 May 2021.
"The issues around the vaccine is that we expect that the vaccines we received from Pfizer will be distributed after the quality control processes are completed.
"From the 12th and 13th, they (the vaccines) will be distributed in the different provinces.

"We expect that provinces will start vaccination around the 15 or so," said Mkhize on SABC TV on Monday morning.
The second phase of the country's vaccination programme is set to prioritise remaining healthcare workers, persons over 60 and those with underlying conditions.
This phase is set to target 16.5 million people across the country.
