The DA's Gauteng provincial leader, John Moodey says the DA's Federal Legal Commission has indicated to him that they hope to wrap the matter up as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Mokgalapa is on leave until the end of December with Able Tau acting as mayor.

"The mayor is on leave - he is still the mayor," says Moodey.

Moodey says Mokgalapa filed leave on his own accord before the party could ask him to step down for investigations into his so-called sex tape scandal to unfold.

"Whether you want to call it special leave or leave, quite frankly, is semantics," says Moodey.

Over the weekend, Sheila Senkubuge, the other person implicated in the scandal, fell on her own sword, handing in her resignation amid a criminal probe into her citizenship status.
