DA signs coalition agreements in Western Cape
Updated | By Heart FM
The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape has officially signed coalition agreements with smaller parties to co-govern three Karoo municipalities.

They are Laingsburg, the previously ANC-run stronghold of Beaufort West, and Prince Albert.
No political party won these councils outright in last week's Local Government Elections.
The DA has now teamed up with smaller community parties, the KGP, KDF and KOP.
Collectively, they call themselves the Karoo Gemeenskap Initiative.
Goliath Lottering leads the group.
"The agreement is as follows; in Prince Albert the mayoral position will be occupied by Goliath Lottering from the KGP with the deputy mayor and speaker being from the DA. In Laingsburg, the mayor will be Aubrey Marthinus from KOP with the deputy mayor being from the DA. In Beaufort West the mayor, the deputy mayor and the speaker will be from the DA. The mayoral position will be held by Djorge Malooi," he said.
DA Western Cape leader, Patricia de Lille, says she's happy her hometown of Beaufort West will now be run by her party.
"My poor birthplace was in a mess. It was filthy, potholes. In fact, we were driving past the municipal building and they were busy painting the municipality building and we stopped and we said to them thank you for cleaning it up, we are coming to take it over. So, I'm overjoyed, I'm very happy," she said.
