DA submits motion to dissolve Parliament
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has submitted a motion calling for the National Assembly to be dissolved.
The DA's chief whip John Steenhuisen says they believe president Jacob Zuma is no longer supported by the majority of South Africans.
"Going to an early election is now the best way to respect the will of the people," Steenhuisen says.
The motion was brought in terms of section 50(1) of the Constitution.
"Such a motion requires a majority of the members of the National Assembly to support it in order to pass. It thus provides the ANC with another opportunity to do the right thing," Steenhuisen adds.

The DA's new move comes after yet another failed motion of no confidence in the president.
On Tuesday, 198 MPs voted for Zuma to remain president, while 177 voted in favour of the motion.
