#DADecides: Gana vows to improve DA ‘township structures’
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng MPL Makashule Gana has vowed to provide more support to the party’s township structures if he is elected interim leader.
Gana is up against DA parliamentary leader John Steenhuisen for the position of interim leader, with the party’s federal council set to vote on Sunday.
The election follows the high-profile resignation of Mmusi Maimane as the leader of the party and a member of parliament in October.
In 2009, Gana was elected a DA councillor in Johannesburg and was later sworn into Parliament in 2014 until 2016.
During his tenure in Parliament, Gana served as the party's Shadow Minister of Human Settlements.

In an interview with Jacaranda FM News, Gana said he would arrest the DA's electoral slide ahead of the 2021 local government elections.
