"DA's political settlement a defense of white supremacy"
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The African National Congress (ANC) says the Democratic Alliance's (DA) decision to remove Helen Zille from all DA decision-making structures is a political settlement "in defense of white supremacy and privilege".
DA leader Mmusi Maimane announced earlier that while Zille has been removed from all decision-making structures following her controversial tweets on colonialism, she will stay on as premier of the Western Cape.
The ANC's Khusela Sangoni says Zille is guilty of blatant racism.
"For the DA to come out and say she will remain the premier of the Western Cape shows the disregard in which they take black people in the country and in the Western Cape in particular.
"We understand there is not much that Mmusi Maimane can do.
"He is a caretaker leader that has been put there in order to promote white interests and to ensure the real guardians of the DA, such as Helen Zille, remain in power with him just as the black face used to woo black voters".
