Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
A draft report by Parliament’s constitutional review
committee on the possible review of section 25 of the Constitution was tabled
on Thursday.
The committee’s chairperson, Stanford Maila, says the report is a combination of the public hearings, written submissions and oral submissions.
The committee was asked to hold public hearings on the possible amendment to the Constitution to allow for land expropriation without compensation.

The majority of the written submission made were against the change, while oral submissions indicated that the constitution is not an obstruction to land reform.
Maila says the different political parties have been given the report and have been asked to make recommendations.
The issue will be debated at a meeting next week.
