The party is celebrating the 107th anniversary of its founding on January 8, 1912.

The parents named their baby uSiko Luka Khongolose, which translates as ‘the culture/tradition of the ANC’.

Baby Khongolose is one of three babies born at Addington Hospital on Tuesday.

The president of the ANC Women's League, Bathabile Dlamini paid the new families a visit as part of the party’s activities in the province ahead of its election manifesto launch on Saturday.

The league's spokesperson Mbali Frazer says they are delighted to have a baby named after the ruling party.

"For us it is a great honour considering that when the child everybody gets happy in the family. So as the women’s league, we are that they respect the ANC and are happy with what the ANC has done for them.

"As the women's league, we decided it was important that they know that they were born on this day. This day is very important in the life of every South African that is committed to prosperity, non-sexism, non-racialism.

“We want these babies to know that they are very special and very important."
