EFF to mark Youth Day at Hoërskool Uitsig in Centurion

Party leader Julius Malema made the announcement on Thursday.

"We are going to have a commemoration at Uitsig High School where a racist white security guard manhandled a black young male for wearing EFF regalia,” he told a media briefing in Braamfontein.

"We are going to have our commemoration there to demonstrate to all that South Africa is a liberated zone."

Last week a video emerged of the pupil being manhandled by a white security guard.

The child was EFF regalia as part of career day.

Malema said the young man was within his right to wear the party's regalia on the day.

"That boy was showing them what he wants to become, if they say you didn't have the right to be there they still had no right to be there. They should've negotiated nicely in a dignified manner with him to ask him to leave the premises.

"Why is he being manhandled by a white security guard only? Because there are black security guards around him.

"But the supremacists thought that he had superior  powers and he could manhandle that boy.”

Malema said the school is aware that the party would be commemorating Youth Day at its premises.

"So there's school knows we are coming on 16 June at ten we'll be there, the school has been informed and the police have been informed.

"This country has been liberated. We can gather anywhere and wear our regalia anywhere. No one has a right to stop us from wearing our regalia."

A report from the school's governing body and the Gauteng Department of Education has found that the pupil in the video has a history of defiance at the school.

On the day of the incident it is alleged that the learner was not supposed to be on the school's premises due to a 7-day suspension.
