EFF warns DA over Helen Zille
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has warned the Democratic Alliance (DA) that the party could lose control of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Nelson Mandela Bay, should it decide to keep former leader Helen Zille on as Western Cape premier.
There are calls from several quarters for Zille to be removed as the premier of the Western Cape following her tweets about the benefits of colonisation.
EFF leader Julius Malema says Zille is no different from President Jacob Zuma.
“To allow her party which she formed and says she loves so much to deteriorate in her name, then she is no different from Zuma. She also compromising the 2019 project of removing the ANC. We are not going to vote with a party that loves individuals more than South Africans” says Malema.

Malema accused the DA of arrogantly ignoring advice from the EFF.
Zille was suspended from party activities yesterday pending her disciplinary hearing but remains in her position as the leader of the Western Cape. Malema believes this undermines the efforts to establish coalition governments.
“If Zille believes she has been treated unfairly by the DA, she must resign and take the party to court to clear her name,” says Malema.
