Ekurhuleni to elect leadership at inaugural meeting
Updated | By Suné du Toit
The Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality will on Tuesday hold its inaugural council meeting where its mayor, speaker and chief whip will be elected.

Ekurhuleni will be the last of the Gauteng metros to hold an inaugural council meeting after Tshwane and the City of Johannesburg metros held theirs on Friday and Monday respectively.
The DA's Solly Msimanga was elected as Tshwane mayor while the party's Herman Mashaba was elected mayor for Johannesburg.
Mzwandile Masina is the ANC's mayoral candidate and Ghaleb Cachalia is the mayoral candidate for the DA.
No party has an outright majority following the Local Government Election and opposition parties will have to vote as a block to beat the ANC.
However, the ANC is expected to cobble together enough support from smaller parties for it to retain the metro.
