Eldorado Park pupil stabbed during committee oversight visit

A pupil from Eldorado Park Secondary was stabbed during an unannounced visit to the school by the Gauteng legislature’s community safety committee.
The incident happened at the same time as an oversight visit by MPLs from the community safety and education committees on Tuesday.
"It is alleged that the learner was stabbed by an illegal intruder at the school, who fled the scene after the incident. He was promptly stabilised and rushed to a nearby health care facility,” said the chairperson of the community safety committee, Bandile Masuku.
"During the visit, committee members were shown multiple knives that were confiscated from learners. They also learned about a learner who brought a gun to school the previous day.”
Masuku says the incident once again highlights the scourge of violence and criminality that exists in some Gauteng schools.
