Emergency services warn of possible flooding in Ekurhuleni

Emergency services in Ekurhuleni has warned of possible heavy rain and flooding in the area this week.
At least three people died as a result of the heavy downpours in Gauteng over the past weekend.

Ekurhuleni emergency services spokesperson William Ntladi says motorists need to make use of alternative routes and not try to drive on flooded roads or cross low-water bridges.
“We had to close up some bridges and we are still pleading with motorists to use alternative routes. Kids must not make use of flooded areas when they go to school.
“We are also pleading with the parents to be on high alert, taking care of their children.”
Ntladi says there has not been any reports of damage or fatalities due to the weekend rains.
“So far we have not yet attended any incident of flooding and we haven’t received any report of freeing people from the flooded areas.”
The South African Weather Service has also warned of possible flooding in Mpumalanga and Limpopo this week.
