Enjoy the sun, sea and sand at these top SA beaches
The top beaches around South Africa have been announced –
just in time for the 2019 / 2020 holiday season.
The Wildlife & Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) awarded a total of 64 sought after Blue Flag status to 45 beaches, 9 marinas and 10 sustainable tourism boats.
The Western Cape achieved the highest number of Blue Flag sites – with a total of 33 beaches, 10 boats and seven Blue Flag marinas.
Kwa-Zulu Natal has six Blue Flag beaches, with the Eastern Cape awarded two Blue Flag Marina sites.
To achieve Blue Flag status, these beaches must meet criteria that include water quality, environmental education and safety and services.
