Eskom to implement stage 6 load shedding on Monday
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Eskom will once again implement stage 6 load shedding on Monday.
This as the utility says it will still take a few weeks for the power generation system to fully recover to pre-strike levels.
Stage 6 is one of a few stages of power cuts being implemented during the coming week.
On Sunday, stage 4 power cuts will continue until midnight and stage 2 from 5am.
This is due generation capacity shortages.
"Stage 4 is currently being implemented until midnight. Stage 2 load shedding will then be implemented until 05:00 on Monday morning," said Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
"Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented at 05:00 until 16:00.
"From 16:00 until 22:00 Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented, before it is lowered to stage 4 until midnight.
"On Tuesday stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from midnight until 05:00, before increasing to stage 4 at 05:00 to 16:00.
"Stage 5 load shedding will be implemented at 16:00 to 22:00. Load shedding will then be lowered to stage 4 until midnight."
A total of 18 319MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.
