Eskom pushes power cuts to stage 4
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Eskom announced on Monday that load shedding would be pushed up to stage 4 due to high demand and a slight reduction in generation capacity.
The embattled power utility had suspended load shedding until 4 pm on Monday, with stage 3 expected to take effect until midnight.
Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena however said stage 4 load shedding will now be in place until 5 am on Tuesday.
It came as South Africa is experiencing the coldest day of the year so far.
The power utility asked residents to use electricity sparingly and unplug heavy appliances like geysers, stoves, and heaters.
"We plead with the public to switch off non-essential appliances to reduce the demand," says Mokwena.
