Eskom says no reason to fear load shedding this week
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Eskom says by early Monday morning, the electricity network has stabilised, and the forecast is positive that it will remain so through the rest of the week.
This comes after the embattled power utility implemented stage 1 rotational load shedding from 12 pm until 7 pm on Sunday.
Earlier in the month, the power utility said if rain falls continue over Mpumalanga it may lead to load shedding as coal mines are flood and power stations run out of dry coal.
Eskom's Khulu Phasiwe says some of the units at its coal power stations are back online.
"The dams we were filling up yesterday are now full, the diesel generators are now stocked up," says Phasiwe.
He adds if there is a break down in the system on Monday, it may lead to load shedding.
However, he reiterates operations at power stations are back to full capacity.
