Family member of illegal miner speaks out
The brother of one of the illegal miners trapped underground at an abandoned mine shaft in Langlaagte says his brother came to the mine to dig for some gold in order to make a living.
"I came here for my brother. He is trapped down there," he said.
Rescue workers are waiting for the abandoned mine to be assessed after a fire broke out underground while some family members are threatening to go down the shaft themselves.
"We are not getting any assistance from police," Taro Tsikwa told Jacaranda FM News.
The miners have been trapped since last week.

Four illegal miners were rescued from the shaft on Sunday and are currently being treated for dehydration in hospital.
