First court appearance for Gqeberha woman accused of strangling girl (9)

A Gqeberha woman, who is accused of strangling her boyfriend's child on Maitland Beach this week, made a brief court appearance on Thursday.
Twenty-five-year-old Lee-Anne Damon allegedly hiked to the beach with nine-year-old Quinisha Sebrand, where she was strangled and left on the beach.
Damon later reported the matter to the Seaview police and was arrested.
The State has asked for Damon to be admitted into a state institution to assess her emotional well-being.
Several community members gathered outside the court to express their outrage
Community member Destiny Tobias told Algoa FM news after proceedings saying that there would never be justice for the death of an innocent child.

The matter has been postponed until Friday.
According to police, Damon fetched the child from her house in Extention 28 in Bethelsdorp on Tuesday to take her for a haircut at about 9h00.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Damon and Quinisha Sebrand, then hiked to the beach where she was strangled.
At about 9 pm on Tuesday, Damon went to the satellite police station in Seaview to report the incident.
Sebrand's body was then found at Maitland Beach.
