Flood warning in Gauteng and Mpumalanga

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of flash floods in parts of Gauteng and Mpumalanga while authorities have warned motorists to take care on the roads.

"Heavy rain leading to flooding is expected in Gauteng, central and eastern parts of the North-West province, extreme western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, the north-eastern parts of the Free State, and Highveld areas of Mpumalanga on Tuesday," the Weather Service says.


Meanwhile authorities in Tshwane and Johannesburg have warned motorists to keep their following distance and to add additional traveling time while enroute to work this morning as the roads are wet.
