Ford's reputation in 'tatters'
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
The family of Reshall Jimmy believes Ford's reputation with consumers is in tatters.
Jimmy died in his ford Kuga which burst into flames in December 2015.
Ford however insists Jimmy's death is unrelated to the recent issues with the vehicles.
The Jimmy family and several other dissatisfied Kuga drivers are now pursuing a class action suit against Ford.
Forensic investigator David Klatzow says the company's investigation was poorly done.
"It's always distressing when you have a big company like Ford who go off looking and shopping for reports that suit them.
"All three came to the conclusion the fire started in the front of the car under the dashboard, not in the engine and not at the back."
Jimmy's brother Kaveen says Ford's handling of his brother's death has damaged its reputation beyond repair
"I think the trust factor from Ford has been severed with consumers, which is a really sad thing because a brand is only a brand when a consumer trusts that brand.
"Now we have Ford who has made every effort in our opinion to sever that trust relationship."
