The arrests followed a mob killing which occurred when two suspected criminals were “brutally killed” and two others were seriously injured by the mob at Bolahlakgomo village in the Magatle area near Lebowakgomo, Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

“It is alleged that members of the community in that village got information that there are four suspects in the nearby bushes trying to steal the stock, where they immediately mobilised themselves and proceeded to the said place.

“On arrival, they attacked all the four suspects with various objects, including stones and wooden sticks, killing two of them instantly and the other two were conveyed to the hospital upon the arrival of the police.”

More arrests were expected and the arrested people would appear in the Magatle Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Police investigations were continuing, Ngoepe said.
