Four arrested in Delmas for human trafficking

Police have arrested four suspects for allegedly kidnapping five Bangladeshi nationals in Delmas, Mpumalanga.
The victims were rescued at a house in John Voster Street in Delmas during a joint operation between different police units.
Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the victims were rescued during a raid on the house on Sunday evening.
“The victims, aged between 20 and 37 years, were allegedly smuggled into the country illegally via Mozambique and locked inside a house for 17 days.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that suspects demanded ransom from the families of the victims.
During the raid, police also recovered three homemade firearms.”
The suspects will appear in the Delmas Magistrate's Court soon.
