This comes after police found three bodies of his children aged between 4, 6 and 10, hanging in the house.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele, says the father fetched the children early at school.
Mbele says their mother became worried after she had received a call from the school notifying her that the children's father, who also lives with them, had gone to fetch them.
"The father further went to a certain high school in Durban and he took the 17-year-old. Police started looking for them, and the girl was found hanging in the bushes in New Germany," says Mbele.
