Four options for Zuma to step down
Updated | By Neo Motloung & Sinethemba Madolo
Calls are mounting for the African National Congress (ANC)
to recall President Jacob Zuma ahead of the State of the Nation (SONA) which is to be held in Cape Town on Thursday evening.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have called for a motion of no confidence in President Zuma before Thursday.
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader, Mmusi Maimane, wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly Baleka Mbete, requesting that this year’s SONA be postponed until the President has been removed from office.
Civil Union, Future South Africa, has also joined the discourse and asked ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa, in an open letter to recall President Zuma.
Centre for Constitutional Rights Director, Phephelaphi Dube, speaking to Jacaranda FM News says there are four options to deal with the political issue.
"The first way... is being recalled. Being recalled is simply a decision the ANC will take," says Dube.
She adds if the ANC takes the decision to recall Zuma, he would have to resign.
"In term of the constitution the deputy president, who in this instance happens to be Cyril Ramaphosa, will step into his office and complete his term."
Dube says Ramaphosa will be free to contest the 2019 election and eligible to finish his two terms as the new president of the country.
Dube says the second way is in impeachment, the third option is a motion of no confidence and the fourth the in which the Mbeki matter was handled.
