Fourth accused linked to Joslin Smith’s disappearance abandons bail
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The fourth accused arrested in connection with the disappearance of six-year-old Joslin Smith, from Saldanha Bay in the Western Cape, has abandoned her bail application.
Lourencia Lombaard briefly appeared in the Vredenburg Magistrate's court on Monday.
She who faces charges of trafficking and kidnapping was arrested earlier this month.
The case has been postponed to 13 May.
Lombard will then for the first time appear in court along with three co-accused including Joslin's mother Kelly Smith. They have also since abandoned their option to apply for bail.
Speaking to the media NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says the investigations are continuing in the matter.
"If she does apply for bail, we will oppose the bail because it is a schedule 6 case and we do not think its in the interest of justice for her to be released on bail. More charges are likely to come up as the investigation continues.
There’s still no sign of Joslin.
She disappeared on 19 February while in the care of her mother’s boyfriend.
