Gauteng online registration system fails again
Updated | By ANA
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has yet again encountered technical problems with its new online learner registration system for 2017.
The admissions website, which was rescheduled to go live at 8am on Tuesday, failed again. The GDE said that owing to a "technical glitch" the website would now only go live at 10am.
The online application site was initially launched on April 11, but was suspended a few hours later after the system crashed. The GDE said the system could not cope after it received more than 600 applicants per second.
Parents and guardians took to Twitter to voice their frustration after the system remained offline after 10.00am.
