The police have lost two senior
officials to retirement.
Gauteng police commissioner Deliwe De Lange, along with her counterpart in KwaZulu-Natal Mmamonnye Ngobeni, both confirmed their retirement on Wednesday.
National police spokesperson, Vish Naidoo says De Lange and Mmamonnye served for 35 and 31 years respectively.
Naidoo says De Lange's decision to hang up her service pistol has nothing with recent calls for her to step down.

In June, it was announced that she would be replaced as provincial commissioner but that decision was later reversed and she stayed on.
Naidoo says Major General Max Masha will temporarily take charge in Gauteng while Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkwanazi will continue as the acting provincial commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal.
"The National Commissioner of Police, General Khehla John Sitole thanked both Generals and wished them well in their retirement," Naidoo says.
