Gauteng police probing sudden death of grade 9 pupil

Gauteng police are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a grade 9 pupil from Queens High School in Johannesburg.

Fifteen-year-old Brian Ndlovu fell sick after returning from school on Monday.
Police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says the cause of death is not yet known.
“The police have opened an inquest docket for further investigations following the death of a 15-year-old teenager at Hillbrow Clinic on the evening of 31 July 2023. The cause of death is unknown at this stage, pending post-mortem results”.
Gauteng Education Department spokesperson Steve Mabona says a psycho-support team will be sent to the school.
“We have sent our officials to the schools to start an investigation to understand what might have transpired and interact with the family. The psycho-support team will be dispatched to the school to provide necessary counselling for the school community”.
