Gauteng police recovers 59 stolen vehicles

Gauteng police have recovered 59 hijacked and stolen vehicles, as well as 79 firearms during anti-crime operations this week.

Colonel Lungelo Dlamini says 236 people were arrested for serious crime during the operation. 



"The suspects arrest and recoveries of stolen goods were done during routine operations which have been intensified in crime hot spot areas. Criminals target expensive vehicles which are In turn used for business robberies, house robberies and hijacking of other vehicles."



He says police are concerned that suspects always seem to be heavily armed. 



 "The arrests effected include 25 for house robbery, 11 for business robbery, 14 for murder, 12 for theft of motor vehicles and 171 for possession of stolen goods including firearms," says Dlamini.
