Girl (12) kept as ‘sex slave’
A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged for allegedly keeping a Grade 7 pupil as a sex slave for almost two months.
Police say the 12-year-old was reported missing from her home in Mamelodi in September.
According to reports, the girl left home to meet friends at a park just outside Silverton when she disappeared.
“She came across an unknown girl, who subsequently led her to a flat in Sunnyside, east of Pretoria, where both of them were to spend the night together,” says police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela. “The girl woke up the next morning to find the suspect sitting next to her on a bed and the girl she spent the night with nowhere to be found.”
The suspect allegedly kept the young girl as his sex slave and raped her repeatedly.

“It is believed that during the same period, the suspect attempted to groom the victim into prostitution,” Mavimbela says.
It’s understood the girl was beaten for failing to attract motorists to have sex with her.
Police say it’s believed the girl was freed after she was spotted by passers-by during an attempt to escape yesterday.
The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit will investigate the case.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday.
