Glass manufacturing company Consol is said to be affected by the glass bottle shortage.
The National Liquor Traders Association says the shortage of glass bottles will affect their daily operations.
This amid reports that the alcohol industry is facing yet another challenge of a global shortage of glass bottles over delays on shipment due to Covid-19 pandemic.
National convener Lucky Ntimane says the industry is trying to recover from the hard lockdown and resulting alcohol ban.
“We worried that should the supply chain issues, which we understand are beyond liquor manufacture’s control, not be resolved it will mean an even bleaker peak trading period for traders who have had to contend with a liquor ban in December 2020 and might now have to brace for stock shortages in December 2021.”
Glass manufacturing company Consol is said to be affected by the glass bottle shortage.
“On the Savannah issue, it is a non-returnable bottle and there is a shortage in that respect, the supply chain issues will take some time to be resolved. But we are confident thing will get better. Shortage of glass that will certainly have a direct impact on the availability of certain products in our shelves.”
