Govt needs to improve accountability, admits Masondo
Deputy Minister of Finance David Masondo says accountability remains one of government’s biggest bugbears.
Masondo delivered the keynote address during a budget and fiscal oversight workshop in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Tuesday.
“Parliament should not only pass a bill into law but it must hold the executive into account for how it executes the laws passed by the parliament itself,” he said.

“I believe this is the area where we need the biggest improvement, accountability. This role cannot be left to the AG only all of us have a huge responsibility in holding each other accountable.”
The budget and fiscal oversight workshop will run until Wednesday.
