Home Affairs considering Antigen Covid-19 tests at borders over festive season
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says travellers returning to South Africa will be the biggest challenge facing the borders during the festive season.

According to Covid-19 regulations, travellers intending to visit the country are expected to produce a Covid-19 test not older than 74 hours from the country of departure.
Motsoaledi says several people have expressed concern over the costs of the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test.
"Now they are going out, they are going home it is not a big problem. The problem is going to be when they are coming back in because we are going to demand a Covid-19 certificate that is not older than 74 hours.”
Motsoaledi says his office is working with the office of the Department of Health to see how they can mitigate the matter.
"One of the ways which we are discussing with the Department of Health is to deploy Antigen Covid-19 test, that one you take 15min at the border, and you go through the border."
