IEC looking for new national results centre
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
The Independent Electoral Commission is looking for a new venue to serve as the National Results Operations Centre.

The commission has used Tshwane Events Centre since 1994 but the place has now been plundered by vandals and it is unusable.
It has multiple conference halls, a stadium, and studios that used to house the regional television station, Tshwane TV. University of South Africa and Tshwane University of Technology students also used to write exams there.
The facility was rented to controversial Malawian pastor Shepherd Bushiri, who used the centre for his church services, as well as the Enlightened Christian Gathering and other smaller churches.
It has recently been transferred back to the city from its former owner, the Tshwane Business and Agricultural Chamber.
The IEC's Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo says they are in a process of finding an alternative venue.
"We can confirm that the Tshwane Events Centre has fallen into a state of disrepair and is not in a usable condition at the moment.
"We are working on an alternative and we are advanced in terms of contracting a foreign alternative venue.
"We can confirm that one the major considerations that the commission is taking is the centrality of the place to accommodate everybody."
