Lesufi was speaking outside the Forbes family in Sandton on Sunday.

Forbes was shot and killed on Florida Road in Durban on Friday night.

Lesufi says the subject of illegal guns was raised in the Gauteng ANC’s provincial lekgotla on Saturday.

“We are coming out of our provincial lekgotla and this matter was raised sharply that if you can't act that those who have illegal guns, it will finish those that are law abiding. Those that have illegal guns will play god and will decide who lives and how dies and our lekgotla was very clear that we will approach the legislature.”

Lesufi said the time has come for drastic action to be taken.

“We need a debate and serious action to be taken on strengthen gun laws and across from the private security companies, the zama zama’s and those that have illegal guns with them that, as a state, it is high time that we take a particular stance and attend to this matter.

“We will sharply raise it and elevate it and ensure that it is attended. We have so many illegal guns that are flowing freely in our country, a moment has arrived that we take a dim view on how this is stopped.”
