Internet scam turns deadly
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Tshwane Police have arrested a 37-old-man in Sunnyside for allegedly pushing a man out of the window of the seventh floor flat earlier this year.
Shaun Chabalala lost his life when he fell to his death from a building next to the Tambotie flats.
The 23-year old Chabalala was declared dead at the scene.
Sunnyside police spokesperson Daniel Mavimbela says Chabalala and his friend went to the block of flats to buy a camera that was advertised online.
Instead, police say a group of suspects arrived at the block of flats and attacked and robbed the two friends.
Mavimbela has cautioned potential online buyers to be aware when purchasing goods on the internet.
"Scammers on the internet target persons who trade in properties ranging from jewellery, electronic equipment like cell phones and camera's to cars," said Mavimbela.
He adds property owners are not immune to internet syndicates.
