Investigation into Reiger Park principle continues

Police say the investigation into the principle and three teachers at the Reiger Park Secondary School is still at an early stage.

The now-retired principle is in hot water after videos and pictures were leaked on social media, showing him engaging in sexual activities with learners on the school premises.
The police’s Heila Niemand says the investigation is making progress.
"We have identified the teachers implicated in the sexual videos. At this stage, we are trying to identify and find victims that were in involved in this images and sexually explicit videos.”
Niemand says police have established the videos and images were taken three years ago.

"From our side, as soon as we have information under oath we will definitely open charges for the manufacturing, possession and distribution of child pornography and also sexual charges that will arise out of the investigation.”

Lesufi has called on all the victims to come forward and help with the investigation.
"The difficulty that we need to accept is that we need all the victims to work with us. To go through this particular processes with us, especially the police side.”

Lesufi says the department must also take some of the blame, as the scandal happened under their watch.
"Therefore we need to meet these families halfway. By meeting these families halfway, we need to give them support, is to give them guidance. And also to interact with them on the information they might give us.”
Lesufi wants schooling to return to normal as soon as possible.
