Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says it’s now in the hands of South Africans to defeat the coronavirus pandemic.

Mkhize spoke during a panel discussion on Universal Health Coverage Day on Saturday.
"Only you have the power to stop Covid-19. A time has come for South African to make a choice, life or sickness and death," says Mkhize.
8,319 new infections have been reported over the past 24 hours to Friday evening.
Mkhize stressed that the virus can only be defeated by the sense of duty and compassion of citizens.
South Africa is in the midst of a second wave of infections with 845 083 cases and 758 373 recoveries.
"As we are confronted by the heavy storm that is approaching us, I must take the opportunity to appeal to the public, particularly our youth, to be fully conscious of their agency and the role they must play to protect everyone from the devastation of Covid-19.”
