Johannesburg metro police officers who bought petrol for a stranded motorist in Eldorado Park been hailed as heroes.
The woman and three children were stuck on the N12 highway in Eldorado Park south of Johannesburg on Tuesday night.
Three officers Zakhele Mashego, Zenzele Hlatshwayo, and Vhutshilo Rasilingwane were knocking off their shift when they stopped and found that the woman's car had run out of petrol.
The woman had no money on her to refill her tank.
They rushed to a nearby filling station to buy petrol from their own pockets and helped the motorist back on the road.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says the area is a high risk of hijacking and mugging incidents.
