Joburg burst water pipe repairs complete
Repairs to a burst water pipe in
Johannesburg have been completed.
The damaged water pipe is 35 metres underground on an unstable landfill.
Johannesburg Water spokesperson Isaac Dhludhlu says: "They have completed the welding of the pipe. They will then start with the flushing of the system. Once they are done, they will release the water to refill the reservoirs before releasing the water to residents."
He says it could still be several hours before the water reaches taps.
Dhludhlu assures residents that the water supply should be restored sometime on Wednesday evening.
