Joburg fixes 112k potholes on city roads

The Johannesburg Roads Agency has embarked on a programme to fix the numerous potholes on the city’s roads.
Potholes have long been a bugbear for the city’s motorists, with the wetter-than-normal summer in Gauteng exacerbating the already dire situation.
MMC of transport Funzi Ngobeni says the department’s emergency road maintenance teams have already repaired 112 699 potholes across the city’s seven regions.
“This means, beginning July, the JRA will deploy only half of its capacity during a regional blitz while the other half remain at their depots to complete repairs and maintenance in their respective regions.
“The A Re Sebetseng campaign will rotate from Region A up to G, without following any order.
“Within the coming weeks, I will ensure that JRA produces its plans within the newly approved budget for improving our road network and present these plans to the residents of Johannesburg.”
