Maarohanye appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

He was arrested on Wednesday after handing himself over at Brixton Police Station.

Gauteng NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said there are four complainants, with the crimes allegedly committed between 2006 and 2010.

"As the NPA, we are duty-bound to take action as soon as we receive information. One of the complainants registered the case in February 2022, the docket was brought to the NPA as a decision docket, and instruction was given by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to authorise a warrant for his arrest, and he handed himself over yesterday and appeared today.

"We do have statements from the complainants themselves, and we can confirm that the investigations have been concluded."

Jub Jub was released on parole in 2017 after being sentenced to 25 years for culpable homicide for killing four pupils during a drag racing crash in Soweto in 2010.

The case has been postponed to 24 August.
