The former Minister of Health and of Public Enterprises, is attending the African Nationa Congress (ANC)'s National Conference, where she told journalists it's unbecoming of a President to not look at the message, but rather attempt to discredit the messenger.

Kathrada wrote to the President shortly after the controversial axing of former Finance Minister, Nhlanhla Nene - imploring him to 'submit to the will of the people and resign'.

Nene's removal from Cabinet and replacement by David van Rooyen plunged the country into a period of economic uncertainty.

Kathrada's letter, which was written almost a year ago, speaks of South Africa's current state of affairs.

Meanwhile, Hogan says the current ANC national election is the first of its kind.

She says this conference is not only about electing leadership but it also tackles the problems that are facing South Africa.

"As leadership we really got to start facing the problems that are facing us particularly the economy and jobs," Hogan says.

Hogan adds that even though she is not a member of the voting cabinet her allegiance is with Cyril Ramaphosa.
