Kidnapping drama in Eikenhof

Police have described scenes similar to a Hollywood action movie, with six suspects hijacking an ambulance that was attending to an emergency at a house in the area.

After hijacking the ambulance the men took two security guards and four boys hostage, according to police spokesperson, Kay Makhubela.

"Our officers spotted the vehicle in an open veld and approached it. A shooting ensued where after the suspects fled on foot," Makhubela told Jacaranda FM News.

The four boys and the security guards were unharmed but police confirmed that they were robbed of personal belongings, including cell phones and cash.

"The exact motive for the kidnapping and robbery is not known, but we are investigating cases of kidnapping, armed robbery as well as attempted murder," Makhubela says.

He also confirmed that all six victims are receiving trauma counselling following the incident.
