Klipspruit community vows to continue protesting
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
The Klipspruit West community has vowed to continue protesting until their demands are met.
Angry community members took to the streets yesterday, torching a bus and blocking roads with burning tyres.
The protest is linked to an ongoing spat over the appointment of a black principal at the Klipspruit West Secondary School.
The Gauteng education department met with residents last night to try and resolve the crisis.
Residents maintain the process to appoint the new principal was flawed and not transparent.
Community leader Anthony Williams says coloured people want equal opportunities.
Williams blames The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) for the crisis.
"SADTU's project is called operation 'vat alles' because their operation 'vat alles' says every position of Principal and Deputy Principal will be occupied by black African teachers," says Williams.
Williams also slated MEC Panyaza Lesufi for not stating that the MEC for not listening to the community.
"He has a serious attitude problem. He went like a little Rambo to go and fire the School's Governing Body without due process," Williams says.
